Construction on the Saratoga Park n Ride is scheduled to begin June and end October 2012. Bus stop shelters will be installed Sept. 2012 for two scheduled bus routes from the Park n Ride: to the Springfield Metro Station and to the Pentagon.
The Parkways have been promoted to primary roads, making them eligible for typically 80% federal funding. The Fairfax County Parkway (Route 7100), which runs from Route 1 to Route 7 (32 miles), will be renamed Route 286. The Franconia-Springfield Parkway (Route 7900), which runs from Beulah Road to the Fairfax County Parkway (4 miles), will be renamed Route 289.
